BlackBerry and Apple’s devices are always known for smartphones with single SIM slots. However, BlackBerry broke this barrier, by launching their first smartphone that comes with dual SIM card slots. The BlackBerry Aurora is the first official BlackBerry device to offer this feature.
In terms of built quality, the Aurora features impressive rubber textured back panel, which gives an ample amount of grip as well as protects the internals from the accidental fall and water damages.
As of now, the BlackBerry Aurora is exclusive for Indonesia. According to Stanley Widjaja, Vice President BB Merah Putih, “Aurora is not only and the first BlackBerry-branded device to ever be produced in Indonesia, but it is the first BlackBerry device in the world to be equipped with dual-SIM functionality,”
If we look at the technical specifications, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Oct Core SoC (to cut down on the production cost), coupled with a massive 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB internal storage, a dedicated SD card slot that accepts micro SD cards up to 128 GB. The display of this device is made using IPS LCD technology, 720p resolution and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
In terms of camera capabilities, the device is equipped with a 13 MP rear facing camera, with PDAF and autofocus and a 8 MP front facing selfie camera. Both camera’s can record 1080p video footage at 30 fps. The device gets its juice from 3000 mAh Li-Ion non user replaceable battery, with fast charging capabilities.
In terms of physical measurements, the device measures at 152 x 76.8 x 8.5 mm and weighs 176 grams. The BlackBerry Aurora also supports 4G Lte with VoLte. The device is priced at IDR 3,499,000, approximately around $260 and runs on Android Nougat, with stock vanilla user experience.
