Doug Collins might be the proudest dad at the NCAA tournament

123

Doug Collins’ face said it all on Thursday afternoon.

There’s nothing like seeing your kids succeed.

Collins has done it all in the world of basketball as a player, coach and analyst. But despite six decades of experience in the game, he could barely hold it together as his son Chris Collins coached Northwestern to its win over Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

It’s not a stretch to say this was the best moment of the tournament’s first day.

Yep, that’s #dadlife right there.

Northwestern’s first tourney bid has attracted a lot of attention for its celebrity fans from team mom Julia Louis-Dreyfus (whose son Charlie is a walk-on for the Wildcats) to a gaggle of ESPN heavyweights like Mike Wilbon and Rachel Nichols who graduated from the school.

None have been as fun or emotional to watch as Collins, though. As more than one person remarked on Twitter after the game, Collins looking like a glass case of emotion is why we love sports in the first place.
